Obituary of John Herbert Shura
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Shura
1946 – 2016
John Shura, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Henry Mayo Hospital, Santa Clarita, CA after battling a rare and severe case of Septic Shock. He drifted peacefully to paradise to the light-hearted tunes of his favorite Motown classic, "My Girl" by The Temptations, a song that echoed his longtime love and romance with his beloved wife, Mary Shura.
John was a Valencia resident, retired from 34 years of service at the Southern California Gas Company. He dedicated his time and infectious charisma to passionate volunteer work bringing joy to the ill at Henry Mayo Hospital and working to find homes for pets at the Castaic Animal Shelter.
A US Army Veteran, John adored three things most: his red Corvette, his two Chihuahuas, Roxy and Brody, and his dream girl and wife of 17 years. He cherished his daughters, Kirsten and Heather, with all his heart.
John is survived by his wife Mary, his two daughters: Kirsten and Heather Shura, his two stepsons: Scott and Chad Schubert, his mother Jeanne Shura, his sister Diane Davis and his grandson Nathan Shura-Moore.
"My love, my light, my husband... watch over me and guide me to be brave as I face the most excruciating reality of all, life without you. Your love has liberated me and because of that, I am forever whole, forever yours. Until we meet again, fly free, my angel.” ~your wife, Mary
Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am Thursday, April 28, 2016, with reception to follow, at Mission San Fernando Rey de España, 15151 San Fernando Mission Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345. Please note that services are at the Mission....NOT the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations may be made to the Castaic Animal Shelter in the name of John Shura.
