Obituary of Raymond R. Torres

Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Raymond Torres, 61, of Simi Valley passed away March 22, 2019 as a result of a two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. His family was by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was born to Frances and George Torres of Brawley California on January 20th 1958. Raymond grew up in Brawley until the age of 9 and was then moved to Reseda, California where he spent the rest of his youth. Raymond then grew to create his own family with the birth of his first child in 1976 and then married in 1977. After a couple years Raymond and his wife Lillian welcomed their second child in 1979. From there they lived life in Reseda and then moved to Simi Valley, California where he lived out the rest of his days.

He lived his life with many interests. Raymond was a motorcycle and car enthusiast. He was a chef for a catering company and his love for food was well known. He loved to learn how to cook and really enjoyed what he did. As his saying, “I don’t make, I create!” He loved sports and more so gambling on them. Raymond loved to hustle. Anything that can be done to make a dollar, he was always involved. He always made sure that his family was taken care of and never without. He carried many jobs and side jobs. Of these jobs, his longest was a transportation driver for Hughes Aircraft, second running was as a Chef for Merlin’s Kitchen. Raymond also opened up his own business, Local Ray’s Sports Cards which lasted 5 years. He was also a driver for Simi Valley School District for the troubled youth. Anything that can be done to make money was his passion. However, there was no love stronger than his love for his dogs (except his family of course). His heart was filled with his two German Shepherds, Bear and Lady. His love for his dogs was something that truly showed his heart.

Raymond is survived by the “Love of his life”, his wife of 42 years, Lillian Torres and his two adult children, Raymond Jr. and Victoria, along with their spouses Monica and T.J. He also leaves his grandchildren, Angelina (Baby Rose), Theo (Baby T), Isabelle (Baby Belle), Vincent (Vinny), Raymond III (Lil’ Ray) and step granddaughters Kassandra and Koryna; his siblings Mary, Grace, George, Arthur, Armando, Vivian and Bernard. He also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews; his two German Shepherds, Bear and Lady. We will all miss him dearly.

Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Nino, Brother, Uncle, Friend…you WILL be MISSED. We LOVE YOU!
