Pete- the world traveler- Egyptians believe when there souls got to heaven the gods ask them 2 questions. their answers determined whether they were admitted or not: 1) Have you found joy in your life? 2) Has your life brought joy to others?
Pete is definitely in Heaven as He brought us all a lot of joy.

Why Pete was so so special to me as my friend> He accepted me with all my quirkey interests and whatever lifestyle I was expressing at that time. No matter what I shared with him, be was always accepting and non-judgemental; he might ask a qualifying question or 2 to make sure you were convinced it was good for you. I feel lucky to have experienced the strong bond of frienship we had for 60+ years. I loved him for his gentle nature "just Pete".

I met Pete while in the Air Force and stationed in Okinawa back in 1968 and 1969. I knew right away I was going to like this guy because of his ready smile, quick wit, and teddy bear-like quality. He was always ready to tell a humorous story that he somehow managed to relate to the present conversation. A little something about his Air Force career....Pete initially learned Russian and was stationed in Pakistan. He hated his tour in Pakistan so much that when the Air Force offered North Vietnamese (the Air Force was desperate for more Vietnamese linguists), he jumped at it. While in Okinawa, we flew 18 hour missions to the Gulf of Tonkin on RC-135s, intercepting North Vietnamese communications. Pete also went to South Vietnam (temporary duty), to fly on EC-130s, collecting intelligence data for later transcription on the ground. He had a very distinguished Air force career and was proud of his contribution to the war effort. We later got together and organized several reunions with other veterans that we served with. Pete never let the get-togethers grow stale and was always ready to tell a humorous story. Another thing about Pete: He had a big heart and was always ready to help the next person. I will miss him dearly.

Pete was such a sweet, warm and loving uncle to me. Words cannot express how much I will miss him. He was such a loving brother, especially to my father when he was ill. The support and love he provided to us during that time was immeasurable. I will forever remember his captivating smile when he told one of his many Charbonneau family stories. May he rest in peace and join the rest of our family in heaven!
Love to you all,
Michele

I remember the fun 'get togethers' with Bob and Kay, Chuck and I and of course Pete and Johanna. Pete would always share his 'limoncello' with all of us. Plus all the nice conversations we all had of the memories including Santa Monica and Venice. I know Chuck has so many found memories of Pete that he has told me about.............always in our hearts !
See you in January !

Dear Johanna, Unfortunately we never met Pete. He sounded like a wonderful man and that you celebrated many happy years together. I know how fast the years go by, and there never seems to be enough years when it ends. I believe he will be loving you and your family from heaven. Maybe he’ll meet my Mom up there! I will pray for your peace, strength and to be surrounded by love from friends and family. With much love, Paula (NY)

Words can't express the devastating loss of such a wonderful man to his family and friends. To say that he was the glue to our family to me, is an understatement. His love for his wife and his beloved daughter was fierce and unconditional. My sweet Uncle Pete taught me many things, probably most importantly he taught me what a Great Man looked like. What a husband and father should look like. He was an exemplary example of all of these things and so much more. I love you my sweet Uncle Pete. Thank you for being You. My children and I will forever miss you. Give my mom a kiss for me.
Angela.

I miss and will miss my very dear friend. Always easy to talk to, never judgemental, and intelligent with a good sense of humor. I'm glad that he did not suffer for long.
Johanna I feel for you and your loss. Having lost my own wife a few years back I can understand how you feel. You and Pete and many other of my high school friends were there for me, I hope I am able to do the same for you.
He is now an angel in the lives of all who knew him. I offer my prayers for you
Love to you and Jennifer
