Obituary of Marion Estelle Burrus Krotz

Marion Estelle Burrus Krotz passed peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the age of 90 in Thousand Oaks, California. 

Marion was born in Chicago, Illinois to Hal and Sadie Burrus on February 10, 1927.  She went to Harper High School in Chicago, graduated in 1944 and went on to be a flight attendant with United Airlines.  She was chosen to model the new United Airline Uniform for flight attendants and was published in the various airline magazines.

She met her husband, Richard Krotz in Chicago and soon moved to California to be married.

While raising four young children, Marion was a flight attendant for Walt Disney Productions Aviation Department.  She hosted many dignitaries on the Disney private Gulfstream, among them were Alfred Hitchcock, Aretha Franklin, John Wayne, The Harlem Globetrotters and Arthur C. Clarke.  She often had the Disney family on board.

She lived a beautiful, long life and had nothing but a gracious welcome and love for her family and friends.  She did the Grand Tour of Europe, was an avid reader, and had a great love of nature and the outdoors, especially enjoying birds and wildlife. She was always interested and involved in the lives of her children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Sadie Burrus, one brother Hal Burrus, and three sisters, Corinne Burrus, June Burrus Meshes and Elaine Jones, and her husband, Richard J. Krotz.

Marion is survived by her sons Richard (Sally) Krotz, Daniel Krotz and Robert (Teri) Krotz and her daughter Jeanne D’Amato; three grandchildren Robert Krotz, Cody and Christopher Ristow.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley on October 14, 2017 at 10:00am.  A private service for family will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. on Monday, October 16, 2017.
