Obituary of Maribel Sosa

Our beloved Maribel Sosa, 55, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017, surrounded by family in Valencia, CA. She fought valiantly until exhaling her last breath and letting the universe take her by the wings. We let her go, and now, at last, she’s free to fly.Maribel Sosa, or Mari as we called her, was born in El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras, on September 29, 1961, to Santos Ponce & Blanca Garcia. A woman ambitious as she was intelligent, Mari went on to graduate with a degree in accounting. Without a doubt, she could beat a calculator.Mari was just 23 years old when she came to the U.S. from Honduras in search of the American Dream. In 1984 she met the love of her life George, whom she was married to until her untimely death. Together they built a home in Los Angeles where they raised their three children: Eric, Jonatan, and Jennifer. Mari was an exemplary mother who dedicated her life to her children. She provided them with the most joyful and enriching childhood, but most importantly she gave them an unconditional friend. She showed love and compassion to everyone she came in contact with, stranger or friend. Throughout her life, she opened her arms and her home to dozens of children, each of whom she touched and inspired in different ways.Mari created her walk of life, it was her path, and she followed it regardless of what anyone said. She was quite simply fearless; one could even say invincible.We will always remember Mari for her selflessness, conviction, and big warm smile. If there’s something she’d like you to learn from her it’s— let a dog or two share your bed. That’s what the corner is for! Mari is survived by her husband, Jorge Sosa; her three children Eric, Jonatan, and Jennifer; grandchildren Aubrey & Noah; daughter-in-law Priscila; father Santos Ponce; and her nine brothers and sisters: Gilma, Olga, Suyapa, Laura, Sonia, Geovani, Roberto, Haydee, Azucena, along with many nieces and nephews.

Her spirit will continue to live in all of us.

Nuestra amada Maribel Sosa, de 55 años, falleció pacíficamente el 14 de Septiembre de 2017, rodeada de familiares en Valencia, CA. Mari fue una madre ejemplar que dedicó su vida a sus hijos. Ella les proporcionó la infancia más alegre y enriquecedora, pero lo más importante es que les brindo un amiga incondicional.Mari nos dejó con hermosos recuerdos. Seguirá siendo nuestro guía, aunque ya no podamos verla, su amor, amistad y compañerismo será para siempre su legado! Hay tantas cosas que se dicen cuando un ser querido pasa, pero algo que todos podemos estar de acuerdo es en que nunca hubo un recuerdo malo con Mari. Planto una semilla con todos los que conociá y creció con amor.Continuara siendo nuestro ejemplo a seguir! Mari es sobrevivida por su marido, Jorge Sosa; sus tres hijos Eric, Jonatan y Jennifer; nietos Aubrey & Noah; nuera Priscila; padre Santos Ponce; y sus nueve hermanos y hermanas: Gilma, Olga, Suyapa, Laura, Sonia, Geovani, Roberto, Haydee, Azucena, junto con muchas sobrinas y sobrinos. Su memoria continuará viviendo en todos nosotros.
