In sweet memory of a very special person

I had Amy in school at Northwestern High School. I will always remember her as a fun and energetic person. I remember the time that she and some of her friends took me to a restaurant and told them that it was my birthday even though it wasn't. She was a very special young woman who will be greatly missed.

It is such a comfort to Joellen, Matthew and I to know how much Amy was loved and admired by everyone—not just family and friends but casual acquaintances that she came into contact. The outpouring of stories and reflections about our Amy just echo’s what we already knew— a gift from God on May 2nd 1969 to Brad, her family, friends and anyone she ever met. What a fun loving spirit with a selfless attitude practiced by her daily in the way she dealt with others in deference to herself. She would sure light up a room with her presence wouldn’t she----oh how she will be missed by all of us. We know that emptiness will never subside but that’s understandable given the irreplaceable happiness she brought to her father and mother. When Amy was out of coma and awake for that day and a half in the ICU ward she introduced us to the two new nurses taking her down to another floor for another cat scan. As we were accompanying her she stated to the two new nurses—“ this is my Mom and Dad”---- after I lightly lectured one of the nurses for bumping the bed against the door. She was so proud she had us as parents and we were thinking no it’s we are so proud and fortunate to have and call you our daughter. Joellen and I are so fortunate to be with Amy for that day and a half after she came out of coma. Amy knew she was sick but all she could talk about was going home with Brad or any of us that would take her out of the hospital. She would negotiate with anyone to get her out of there and coming home to Indiana with Brad for Christmas was front and center on her mind but just not to be.
The photos and stories will always bring back the good memories we have of Amy but they also remind us of what we are missing in our years ahead on earth without her. There is an emptiness and void that will never be filled but we know we experienced more love and enjoyment from Amy in 47 years than most people experience from others living to be a 100,if they are lucky.
One of her cousins and many of her friends have mentioned the new bright star in the sky that’s shinning down on all of us, so we will grab on to that thought until we are laid to rest and re-united with her again.
She is in God’s care and her pain and suffering have ended and for that we are most thankful. Rest in peace dear beloved daughter.

My Dearest Pal, My Person…I am utterly heartbroken and find it hard to breathe. You were the one I ran to with good news, bad news, mundane news, any news. There was no life detail too small or too large that we did not share. Through the years, through laughter and tears, you were my constant supporter, fierce defender, the best friend I could have ever had. I was honored to have known you and privileged to have cried with you, laughed with you, just been with you through life’s peaks and valleys. I am comforted that you are no longer in pain and that you are safe in the presence of Jesus. I will wait patiently until I join you in Heaven and our OCD OCD superpowers can be united again. In the meantime, a part of me is missing. Love You Pal, Your Forever Pal, Tammy
