Most of my days are spent wishing we could have those long phone conversations about everything and nothing!!! I listen to old phone messages just to hear your voice...sometimes it is the most painful of reminders that you have left this plane of existence. I believe you can see me. I hope you know now how much you were loved when you were here, and that you now abide in God’s love always!!!!

Portia,
I believe you were so wounded,disappointed,isolated,and betrayed. I am sorry that I did not call you back. I ultimately failed you , but as I often told you that Jesus Christ (AHAYAH YASHIYA and I am fully persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor thing present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, or any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!!!,Rom:8:38-39. and Portia I reminded you that will never forsake you nor leave you -Heb 14:5 and 6 .,

Portia,
I wanted to light another candle, in your honor today.
You always, saw the best in everyone and was a light to your family and many friends along the path that was taken throughout your lifetime journey of life, in Madison, Phoenix, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks. You finished the race my dear sister, with dignity. And now you can rest peacefully. Know this you will be missed...
Love you sister always,
Rebecca

I have a lot of happy memories of Portia when we worked together at the UW all those years ago. She was a very feisty and fun person and always spoke her mind. Her friendship was a treasure. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The thing about love is it just is. I will always love you for being yourself, and that was someone who gave of themself wholeheartedly. You were generous with your time, your money and your soul. If someone had a need, you did not wait to assist...you were always front and center to assist others, anticipating the need....and it you had the ability, you gave your all. I am reminded of the speech that Portia gave to Shylock in Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice"...
The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings......
I always thought of this quote with reference to your name, even though I know it is not the one Mother & Daddy were thinking of when they named you. I feel it is the most apropos to who you really were....God is a merciful God and I know that you were his blessing to us on earth....whether we recognized it or not....I know I was twice "blest" to have you as my sister and as my friend.....to the mightiest of the mightiest....love always...M

My heartfelt condolences to the Harrington family on Portia's passing. As a schoolmate Portia always conducted herself with grace and composure in a place and at a time that I'm sure was challenging at times. Again, my condolences from a member of her class of 1967.
