Please share a memory of Domingo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Domingo “Rod” Reyes Rodarte, 89, of Simi Valley, California, passed away Wednesday, September 28th, 2016 in Simi Valley, California. Husband of 58 years to Carmen, father of Domingo Jr., Gus (wife, Juditha) and Dora (husband, Bill Jennings), and grandfather of Marilyn Christie, Vincent Michael and Joshua. Domingo was born in Van Nuys, California on February 20, 1927. Domingo’s parents, Antonio and Apolonia were migrant farmers and when Domingo was an infant the family moved to Mexico (Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico) where he lived until he was around 17 years of age. Shortly after moving back to California he was drafted into the United States Air Force (during the Korean War). In the Air Force he studied aircraft mechanics and became an aircraft electrician. Out of the Air Force, he worked in the aeropace industry until he retired, 35 years. In 1958, Domingo married Carmen and they lived together in San Diego, California until 1966 when his job transferred him to Picayune, Mississippi. The family lived there until 1973, when they moved to Simi Valley and have been there since. Domingo’s interests were airplanes, he was a single engine aircraft pilot, cars, enjoyed reading books about history, enjoyed listening to a variety of styles of music, Big Band being one of them, and gardening. In his retired years he spent most of his time maintaining and enjoying his garden.
