Virginia Ann Miller
January 30th, 1929 – May 13th, 2016
Virginia Ann McCracken was born on January 30, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Brooks and Bessie McCracken. She was the middle child of the family between two sisters, Jewel Ernestine and Beatrice June.
Virginia had only one boyfriend in her life and that was Jim Miller. After dating for six years some of that time separated while Jim was in the Navy, they married on August 20, 1948 in the Methodist Church. They had their first child, Glenda in 1951, followed by Tom in 1954 and Curt in 1959. Jim and Virginia packed up the family and after a couple stops along the way finally settled in Chatsworth, California where Jim worked for Honeywell and Virginia later worked in the fine china department at Broadway department store. Even though they lived far away from each other, they were very close with Virginia’s two sisters and their husbands as well as Jim’s sister, Lois. They always enjoyed trips visiting with their siblings.
Virginia loved gardening and always took care in tending to her flowers and plants. Her children and grandchildren have fond memories of time spent with her. She loved to keep the family traditions alive; everyone could always count on all the same foods at all holidays including home baked cookies, which were loved by all. Virginia went out of her way to make sure the grandkids had a special time whether it was with silly rabbit ears and egg hunts at Easter or remembering to ask about school activities they were involved in.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Miller, sister June and her three children Glenda, Tom and Curt, along with their spouses, Ron, Sharon and Kathy. As well as their grandchildren, Kevin, Nicholas, Jennifer, Christine, Melissa and Amy and great-grandchildren Felicity, Lorelai, Carly, Tyson, Alex, Mila, Megan, Cole, Abigail, Madeline and Zachary.
John 14:1-4
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
