Obituary of Frances Bailey
Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are saddened to announce the passing of our Beloved Nana, Frances Monola (Fifer) Bailey, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her loving family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert W Bailey Sr., her four children Sandra, Robert, Paula, Carla and her grandson Casey Whiteside.
Frances was born in Ottawa, Ohio and was one of nine children. She grew up in Jackson Michigan, and married her first love Robert after completing High school. She and Robert eventually moved to California with two young children, where she enjoyed being a homemaker and later had twin girls.
Once her children were married she discovered the joy of volunteer work at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys. After moving to Thousand Oaks in 1987 and the passing of her husband, she continued to find ways to help others, such as volunteering at Goebel Senior Adult Center. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends at Goebel and local Senior living homes, where her warm and constant smile and encouraging words radiated joy and love to everyone. She always felt that she received more joy from her friends than she could possibly return, and being involved in her community kept her energetic and young at heart.
Frances is survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a great many wonderful and caring friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday April 15th at the United Methodist Church of Westlake village and will begin at 2 pm. Interment of her ashes will follow in the churches memory garden. As we know Frances loved a good party, her family requests that guests wear floral or hawaiian prints to this occasion in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either St. Jude Medical Center, or the Goebel Senior Adult Center CSVP.
