Obituary of Gottfried (Fred) Manderschied

Gottfried (Fred) Manderschied, 88 Gottfried (Fred) was born on July 24, 1927 in Pondof, Bavaria, Germany. After attending public school in Pondorf, he became an apprentice in production of cheese and butter at Altenstadt Allgäu (Bavaria). In 1946 he received his Bachelor of Dairy Science Degree from Boos in the Unterallgäu (Bavaria). In 1952 he immigrated to Canada and on to the United States in 1958. In 1961 Fred and his brother opened a German Restaurant in Van Nuys, California. In 1970 he turned the restaurant over to his brother and retired from Anheuser Busch 20 years later. After a brief illness, Fred passed away on December 9, 2015 and is survived by his stepdaughter JoAnn Emerson of New Berlin, IL, stepson Joseph Molé, of Palm Harbor, FL, niece Heidi Manderschied, of South Lake Tahoe, CA, nephews Max Manderschied of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Jorg Manderschied of State Line, NV, six grandchildren: Roseann Emerson of Normal, IL, Julie Marcy of Bloomington, IL, Paul Molé of Castle Rock, CO, Peter Molé of Simi Valley, CA, Amy Balensiefen of Geneseo, IL and Josie Benwell of Safety Harbor, FL. Nine Grandchildren: Brennen Diedrich of Normal, IL, Grace, Ethan and Evan Marcy of Bloomington, IL, Luke and Leah of Castle Rock, CO, Mia and Alex Balensiefen of Geneseo, IL, Anthony and Adrian Molé of Simi Valley, CA, and the rest of his family and friends in Germany and the United States. Fred is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Mary A. Manderschied (Cammarata), parents, Wilhelm and Genoveva Manderschied (Dietl); as well as his brother, Horst Manderschied and his stepson, Paul Molé.
