I had Mr. Kinney as a teacher at one point- literally the best person I have ever met. He was really patient and made things fun. I only found out about his passing today. I'm so sorry to see such a great person go. If I could switch places with him, I would.

Mr. Kinney was a teacher that left a positive and lasting effect on me as well as every other student he had. It has been a year since I last saw him and 2 years since he has been my teacher. To this day I can picture perfectly the caring, passionate, and kind man he was. He will be missed very dearly at Portola and by everyone that was lucky enough to have him in their lives.
Rest peaceful Mr. Kinney
Thank you for all you taught me.

My daughter text me on Tuesday morning, telling us what happened to Mr. Kinney, and my husband and I were in complete sadness, and still in shock over this. My daughter was in his English class, and she loved every minute of his teaching and cried when we asked her to open up about her thoughts. I remember introducing myself to him during back to school night, and felt his amazing energy, that was so kind and radiant! I am so sad to learn that his children are still so young, and that breaks my heart. Mrs. Kinney, I don't know you and have not met you but I send so much love and we pray for Mr.kinney to enter into eternal life where he can watch over your children, in Heaven where you will all be together one day. Bless you and your family. We miss you so much, Mr. Kinney. Thank you so much for everything you have done in this world!

I had the pleasure of the kind friendship of Christian and enjoyed our good times and laughter together with our fun group of friends for many years. Christian was always a joyful if not the more intelligent pal in our circle. I also had the opportunity to work with Christian on a few projects and enjoyed our collaboration.
My deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers for the family and friends who like I will surely miss his gentle smile and countenance and laughter. May you rest in peace Christian and know how much your friendship was appreciated.
Take strength in knowing our loved ones are always with us in our hearts and minds as has proven true for those whom left my life too soon.
God Bless Debbie and the Children and the entire family near and far,
Jack Binder

I am deeply saddened to learn of Christian's passing. He was a good friend and highly respected colleague, and I cherish the memories of our time together teaching at Portola. However, I think I will remember most the last conversation I had with Christian and the respect I will always have for the man. He was almost jocular about all he had suffered through and was looking forward to returning to the classroom. The courage and grace he exuded during his long and difficult battle was truly remarkable and will leave a lasting impression me. May he rest in peace. And may God bless his loving family.
