Obituary of Jo Collins

We are sad to announce the passing of Jo Collins, 88, on August 5, 2015 in Simi Valley, CA. Jo passed away peacefully in her sleep, after a lengthy illness, at Blessed Family Board and Care, where she resided for the past several years. She was born on October 5, 1926 in Holtville, CA. Jo is survived by three sons; Timothy L. Collins, Gary Collins (Judy), and Terry Collins (Nancy). She also had six grandchildren; Shannon Collins, Scott Collins, Bekki Collins, Timothy P. Collins, Alison Collins, and Neil Collins, as well as five great-grandchildren; Daniel Collins, Aidan Collins, Kylie McQueen, Samantha Collins, and Sadie McQueen, all of whom she dearly loved. Born and raised in the Imperial Valley, Jo Collins moved her family to Riverside, CA where she worked for the Riverside Unified School District for 27 years. After retirement, she enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, during family activities and visits. Jo Collins was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Timothy Collins, and her three sisters. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 5th, at Rose Family Funeral Home, located at 4444 Cochran St., Simi Valley, CA. A reception will be held following the service at the home of Gary and Judy Collins. Please contact the family if you need directions. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Blessed Family, Dr. Royal Dean, and Assisted Hospice Care, for their excellent and compassionate care of Jo during her illness. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America, or a charity of your choice.
