Obituary of Elizabeth Icenogle

Elizabeth Icenogle, 88, died at home on September 13, 2014. She was born July 29, 1926 to Harry and Lola Hall in Paris, Arkansas.
She moved to California at age 16. She married Ell Appleton in 1942 and had three children before his death in 1976. In 1979 she married Bill Icenogle. After retirement they moved to Medford, Oregon. Upon his death in 1998, she returned to California to live near her daughter in Newbury Park where she remained until her death.
She fought Alzheimer’s valiantly for more than 10 years. While difficult, she faced it with bravery and grace. Through it all she remained a loving mother, grandmother, and GG. She will be forever our Queen.
She was preceded death by her parents, both of her husbands, an infant son, Donald Wayne Appleton, and her granddaughter-in-law, Debra Gellenbeck.
Survivors are her daughters Sandra Gellenbeck (Ron), Newbury Park and Debra Heiker (Erik) Green Valley, AZ
Grandchildren Don Gellenbeck, Terri Russell (Paul), Kristi Pontacq (Eric), Staci Collier (Steven Wood), Rob Collier (Stacy), and Marcus Johnson.
Great-grandchildren Heather McCormick (Matt), DJ Russell, Shaylee Wood, Joshua Wood, Trevor Pontacq, Tyler Pontacq, Emma Pontacq, Ellie Pontacq, Kailyn Johnson, Zoe Collier, Ezra Collier, Jason Pereira, and Matthrew Pereria (Lensey).
Great-great grandchildren Madison McCormick, Turner Russell, Joel McCormick, Jacob Pereira, and Jaxson Pereira.
A Rosary Vigil will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 7:00 pm at St. Julie Billiart Church at 2475 Borchard Road, Newbury Park. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 26 at 11:00 am at the same location. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
