Posting this observance on behalf of Rich and Ginnie Richards
In memory of Donna Lee Alexander:
Donna was a wonderful person. She loved her family deeply. Her devotion, understanding and inner strength was always present. She loved the outdoors and travelled the world with Maitland.
We all loved Donna, and will remember her. She is with God now.

Donna,
Thank you for being who you were; such a wonderful person, Wife, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. You were special to everyone you touched. I am honored to have had the privilege to count you as a dear friend over these many years.
Your Memorial Service was beautiful, like your self and soul. An example and inspiration to all who had an opportunity to spend time with you, I feel your spirit is with us, those who had the good fortune to know you.
It has been difficult for us to say good-bye. Your family loves you, and misses you very much. We hope you are with your parents now.
Love Always,
Bart

Mait, Judy, Cathy, and Robin,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Though we only knew Donna for a couple years, and not before her illness, her love of life and family shines through loud and clear in each one of you. What a blessing to have had her as wife and mother!

As Donna , lay in bed, saying her last goodbye’s , I reflected on how blessed I was to have been a beneficiary of her legacy. I also quickly realized I could not separate her legacy from that of her husband of 63 years, Maitland.
Donna and Mait’s legacy was born of a commitment made to each other at the tender age of 18, when they vowed to Love and Honor each other for life. Theirs was a commitment of unconditional love and devotion to each other. As their family grew, this same commitment of love and unconditional acceptance was bestowed upon their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. That Mait and Donna’s legacy will live on for generations is evident even in the youngest of their great grandchildren as they are embraced by and express unconditional love and acceptance. I would be remiss if I failed to mention Donna’s humor, even as she lay on her death bed she managed to find humor. We will remember Donna with love and a smile.

My Sisters and I were fortunate, blessed and proud to have the perfect Mother. She was also our best friend, confidant, role model, cheerleader and adviser. Our Mother was always available when we needed her to celebrate our successes and help raise our children. Fortunately, she lives on in our hearts.

Donna showed me what a true matriarch should be... strong, generous and loving. The love she has shown to me in the short time I have been a part of the family is more than I ever could have hoped for and the adoration shown to Charlie is awe-inspiring. She took me in as one of her own and made me feel every bit as much a granddaughter as those born into the family.
I will remember fondly and honor the memory of her frequent visits with Charlie and myself during my maternity leave. It was so nice to have that quiet time together.
I think Donna may have wanted Jimmy to get his degree more than I did (which is hard to believe) and the support she showed during that time will never be forgotten.
I only hope that one day I will have as profound an impact on my own grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives as Donna has had on hers.

Mait, Judy, Kathy, Robin and families. I am so sorry for your loss. Donna was one of the kindest, happiest people I've never known. I admired her so much. I never heard her raise her voice or speak a word in anger. I remember her always surrounded by friends. She was so full of fun. And she was absolutely beautiful. Now we hear she was also incredibly brave. I know you will all miss her terribly. She was half of a perfect marriage and raised three wonderful daughters. It doesn't get much better than that. Love to you all. Your cousin Charlotte
