Beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Loved and cherished by many, entered heaven Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the age of 75. Norvell was born to the late Norbert and Leatha Wisner in Wewoka Oklahoma.
The family moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she grew up. Norvell graduated from Central High School. She attended college in California, at Los Angeles City College, followed by UCLA, and majored in Costume Designing.
Norvell married the love of her life Peter Wilson Jr. on June 19, 1959. In 1969 the two moved to Simi Valley, California, with their three children, Patricia, Michele and Michael Wilson. Married for 54 years and 32 of those years she has been heavily involved in ministry of the church.
Norvell gave her all to her family, community and church. She loved helping people and she always gave more to others then herself. People who knew Norvell could tell that she always gave from her heart.
Norvell was passionate about being a Deacon Couple because she always wanted to help the poor and needed. She was an active member of her church, St. Rose of Lima. Norvell loved ministering with her husband Deacon Peter Wilson. And it took them 20 years to achieve their dream of creating and outreach ministry in the inner city of Los Angeles. Norvell Co-founded the Deacon Mission Center Ministry Inc., along with her husband Deacon Peter Wilson, where they brought a new dimension to outreach ministries for parish communities in the inner city of Los Angeles.
Norvell was also involved in Marriage Encounter with her husband. She taught religious education and confirmation. She was also the Spiritual Director of the Ladies of Charity and served on the board of directors for the Deaconate for 10 years. Her husband and she also served as a "Johnny Couple" for 4 years for the Deaconate Formation Class of 1999.
When Norvell first moved to Simi Valley she was very active in her community she was a member of the Fair Housing Council and she volunteer as denmother in her daughter's and son sports and extracurricular activities.
Her memory will forever live in the hearts and minds of her husband, Peter Wilson Jr., their three children, Patricia Wilson, Michele Wilson, Michael Wilson and his wife Darlene Wilson, as well as six loving, grandchildren, Christopher James, Philip George, Dichele Harris, Nicole Wilson, Isiah Wilson and Jovaan Clark. Three, great grandchildren. Her nephew Tony Watts and his wife Sheila, and two nieces Alicia Watts and Nanetta Watss. Cousins Julia Galloway, Ginger, Vernetta Edmonds, other relatives and friends.
