Obituary of Carol Manion

Carol Cronan Manion, wife of Deacon Joe Manion, St. Jude's Catholic Community, Westlake Village, died on July 23rd after a long illness. She was 76 years old. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, two sons, Joe Jr. and John, a daughter, Mary, and 16 grandchildren. Carol was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the youngest daughter of Adolph Brooks Cronan and Natalie Barthel. Her only sister, Patricia, is deceased. Her only brother, Doctor Brooks Cronan Jr., lives with his wife, Jo, in New Iberia, Louisiana. Carol was a graduate of Loyola University of the South, New Orleans, Louisiana, where she earned a Master's Degree in Education. At Loyola, she received the prestigious award of having the highest grade in the Religion Department and also was rewarded for her academic excellence with a citation in Who's Who among American colleges in her senior year. Her teaching career spanned more than 10 years of elementary education, many of them teaching gifted children. Later in life as a teacher/facilitator for the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese Deaconate Formation Program, she prepared men and women for their future service in the Church. She moved to California with her family 1977. She was active in many civic and community organizations. Her involvement in many ministries at St. Jude's was her greatest passion. Shortly after moving to California, she began an illustrious career as a real estate agent and broker. For over 30 years as a real estate professional, she received many honors and awards for her exceptional sales performance. She retired from Coldwell Banker in December, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts in her name be made to Manna, Many Mansions, and Loves and Fishes at St. Jude's. Rose Family Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements. The Mass of Christian Burial will occur at St. Jude's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 30th at ten o'clock. A vigil will be at St. Jude's on Monday, July 29th at 7 o'clock in the evening.
