Obituary of Elizabeth Grace Jordan
Elizabeth Grace Jordan passed away peacefully at her home on September 7, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 23, 1924 in Tacoma, Washington to Eugene Gilbert Archer and Lily Grace Bestwick. She was a woman of extraordinary talent and achievement who excelled in academics, the arts, athletics and civics. Elizabeth attended the University of Texas among others, attaining two graduate degrees while pursuing her chosen profession in the field of law; but she always felt her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her children.
She was married to her husband of 44 years, Robert William Jordan Jr., and in 1950 moved to Los Angeles, California. Within 10 years they had welcomed seven children to their union. Eventually she resumed her career in law where she worked in different areas for many years. After retirement, she was once again free to travel the world, but her focus and devotion was to her ever-growing family.
Elizabeth gently instilled in each of us the importance of love, strength, determination and giving back with grace and beauty, all of which she had achieved throughout her 95 years. We join together in the remembrance and celebration of her life, recalling the bonds that hold the love we share and the memories that will sustain us.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Terry, Diana, Wendy, Laurie, Tom, Angela and Clare, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and her brother Thomas Eugene Archer, his wife Kay, and his three children.
