Obituary of Deborah Kay De Bono
Deborah Kay De Bono, age 68, passed away on December 6, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Deborah moved with her family to Southern California in 1957, where she eventually attended and graduated from Culver City High School. She married her husband Daniel in 1970 and they had one daughter, Lorna. A resident of Simi Valley for more than 45 years, Deborah retired from her career as a graphic artist with State Farm in 2005. In retirement, she relished having more time to spend with family, cook amazing food, explore California with Dan in their vintage camping trailers and, most importantly, create art. A lifelong artist, Deborah found joy in mastering each new artistic medium she tried, including drawing, photography, graphic design, painting, collage and, most recently, printmaking. She frequently exhibited her work in local art shows throughout Southern California. She treasured her experience volunteering as a Docent at The Getty Center for the past 20 years.
Deborah is survived by husband Daniel; daughter Lorna and son-in-law Daven Simmons; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Norman Whitla; and stepmother Mary Eley. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, D. Eugene and Lorna Eley.
A celebration of Deborah’s life will be held in January 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Art Trek: http://www.arttrek.org/de-bono-fund/
