Fred was a horrible father to his three sons. He always played the victim, although it was he who cheated on his first wife. When she took her sons and moved back to NorCal where her family was, Fred really had little “time” for his boys. When the two oldest were put on a train for a two week visit with their father, he never took a day off work to spend time with them and had a list of chores for them to complete. He was the most arrogant man I have ever met. I tried to have some kind of relationship with him even though my husband didn’t want to. But he was very cold and distant. When his eldest son passed away in 1995 at age 40, Fred and Arlene were in Oakland at her daughter’s. Oh yes, they came to the funeral…in golf shorts, because that was the only clothes they had with them. He couldn’t even stop at K-Mart to get a pair of slacks. This man had no respect for sons. Unfortunately, his sons and their families will not miss him and didn’t even know he was still alive before we received a copy of the laughable trust in the mail last week. I’m grateful the boys had a wonderful, loving mother and an awesome step-father who we all miss terribly. There, I got that off of my chest after 49 years.

The irony… a man who was left alone in his last years who abandoned his own children. Didn’t even attend his youngest son’s wedding because of his hatred toward his ex-wife. And his internal dialogue that all anyone wanted was his “money.” Nobody wanted his money, only his presence in their lives. I can only hope you see the truth in Heaven.
