Obituary of Jacqueline Whitlock
Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline Whitlock, age 68, raised her family and worked in Thousand Oaks until passing away from a five-year battle with cancer on Friday, November 18 at Los Robles Hospital. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family and close friends, never losing her positive outlook or inner radiance.
Jacqueline was born on December 30, 1947 to Percival “Jack” and Esme Sedgwick in Surrey, England. Her older brother David (born 1936, died 2014) was a member of the Royal military police. Jacqui traveled the world with the British Army as a child with her younger brother Phillip (born 1950). Jacqueline, or Jacqui as she is known to her friends and family, met her husband Barry (born 1945) at the age of 16, at a town hall dance in Frimley Green, Hampshire, England. They reconnected several years later and were married in Farnborough, Hampshire, England on April 1, 1974. The newlyweds settled in southern California in 1974 where their three children were born and raised - Andrew Lawrence (born 1980), Claire Elizabeth (born 1983), and Jennie Christine (born 1986).
Jacqui enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her work of more than 20 years at Westlake Hills Elementary School, good music, Masterpiece Theatre and a good cup of tea. In recent years, she traveled to Maui with close friends, Spain to see her brother Philip and his wife Patricia, and to Vancouver to see her loving friends and family. Jacqui enjoyed attending concerts in the Los Angeles area and saw the Washington, DC cherry blossoms with her youngest daughter. She was an extraordinary cook and an accomplished seamstress who made beautiful dresses and home decorations for her clients and daughters. Through her children, she was active with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Thousand Oaks High School color guard and cheerleading, and volunteered for Weathersfield Elementary School.
Nothing made her happier than having her entire family together at her home, including their pets, playing games or enjoying a home cooked meal together. Jacqui lives on through her husband of 42 years, her three children, her son-in-law Jeff, and her younger brother. Her kindness and grace will guide the hearts and acts of those who knew her every day.
