Obituary of Joy Bernadette Schneider

Joy Bernadette Schneider, 70, of Granada Hills, California, passed away on April 24, 2016 in Simi Valley, California.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be held at 280 Royal Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93065, on May 15, 2016 at 2 o’clock PM with Reverend Sarah Kitch of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church after the memorial service. The Rose Family Funeral Home of Simi Valley will be handling the funeral arrangements (www.simivalleymortuary.com)
Joy was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Clyde and Vurchel Schartz on July 31, 1945. At age four Joy and her family moved to Eugene, Oregon. Not long after, the Schartz family then moved to Junction City, about 12 miles north of Eugene, and bought a home with 20-acres and started a vegetable farm. She went on to graduate from Junction City high school in 1963. Joy worked as a Grocery Clerk, Department Manager, and Scan Coordinator for Hughes Family Markets for 32 years. She enjoyed quilting, teaching, and spending time with her family especially the grandchildren. She received many quilting awards and was involved in the Valley Quiltmakers Guild. During this time Joy made and donated many quilts to the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Joy also made and gave countless quilts to her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and family.
Joy Schneider is survived by her husband, George Schneider of Granada Hills. Joy is also survived by daughter Danette and Craig Olsen, granddaughter Izabella of Spring Hill, Tennessee, son Kevan and Connie Schneider, granddaughters Carly and Katie of Simi Valley, California, and son Eric and Jennifer Schneider, grandson Isaac and granddaughter Brynn, of Simi Valley, California. Also additional family, including brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 280 Royal Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93065 and Valley Quiltmakers Guild, P.O. Box 589, Canoga Park, CA 91305, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (www.nbcf.org/donate), and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (www.dana-farber.org).
