Obituary of David Haldane

David Haldane passed away from natural causes at his home in Thousand Oaks, CA on March 17, 2016. Dave was born on August 4, 1969 in Burbank, CA., lived in Van Nuys and moved to Agoura Hills with his parents, Irma and Ken Haldane and brothers Ken II and Rick in 1971. Dave attended Las Virgenes schools and graduated from Agoura High in 1987. Dave’ s career included being a newspaper boy, cleaning offices, and he worked in a pumice mine in Lee Vining, CA, driving big equipment among other things, and fishing was always a top priority. Dave then worked at a local electronics company before joining an upstart company, Computer Parts Unlimited in Agoura Hills (that has become part of Nexicor), where he became a warehouse manager. From there, he moved to ITT in Westlake Village where he was employed as a Master Scheduler, and then on to Teledyne in Camarillo where he worked as a Planner. Dave was a fisherman and loved the outdoors. His favorite fishing spots were the Bishop, CA area, Kennedy Meadows and the St. Joe River in Avery, Idaho. As a child, Dave loved playing with his friends, and going on vacations to Illinois, where Grandma Sonja doted on her grandsons and in Idaho where besides visiting grandparents, his many aunts, uncles and cousins, he learned to drive combines and harvest crops, herd a few cows, and fish on the many rivers including the Selway, where his great grandparents had a cabin. One of his best fishing excursions was with his Uncle Jerry and friend Scott in Idaho where they caught 16 big steelhead. Locally, Dave loved to snowboard in Mammoth, and water ski with friends at the Colorado River and Lake Mead. Backpacking and hiking were among his favorite things to do, and he loved the high Sierras. He was into watching sports and his favorite teams, much to his parents concern, were the USC Trojans and Pittsburgh Steelers. NASCAR was a passion and he and along with his brother Rick, spread his older brother Ken’s ashes at the Daytona 500 track the day of the race. Golf was another game Dave loved to play, but putting was not his forte. Dave had a fun personality, laughing and joking with friends – “Hey Bud” is how he said hello to friends, and he was one of the most caring and sensitive men around. His caring and listening skills enabled him to make and keep really dear friends. He was especially concerned that people be treated fairly and given chances to achieve. He had an innate ability to make others feel comfortable and encouraged them. He also had the ability to remember names and events; if he met you he remembered you. Dave was preceded in death by his older brother, Ken. He is survived by his parents, Mother Irma Haldane of Agoura Hills, his step Mother, Donna and Father, Ken Haldane of Thousand Oaks, his brother and best friend, Rick Haldane and his fiancée Wendy Cherry of Simi Valley, his nephew, Shane Haldane of Simi Valley, and a step brother, Matt. His love, Angie Franco and her daughter, Lanyssa, and son, Jaylan, remained special in his life. He also is survived by his Aunts, Elaine, Christy, Betty and Judy and Uncles Ed, Marvin, Phil and Lew, as well as over 50 first cousins. His Memorial Service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley; a family friend, Deacon Joe Manion will preside. A memorial party will be held at Cisco’s in Thousand Oaks following the service.
