Obituary of Michael Lee Foley

Michael Lee Foley, 61, of Simi Valley, CA passed away peacefully on February 24th, 2016 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Michael was born in Butler, PA on July 19, 1954 to Donald and Shirley (Foley) Eddy. He attended Moorpark College and Redlands Senior High School in Redlands, CA, where he graduated in 1972. Mike worked as a Sheet Metal Supervisor and installer for over 25 years. He was also a motorcycle salesman for Cal Coast Motorsports in Ventura, CA. Mike enjoyed riding his street motorcycle and dirt bikes. In his early years, he was a member of District 37 (AMA) where he enjoyed racing in Hare and Hounds in Johnson Valley in the Mohave Desert as well as in Pennsylvania. Mike received a “Telly Award” for “Wheel Adventures” a dirt bike basics instructional video in which he was the narrator and instructor. Mike also loved classic rock and roll music. He was a fantastic guitar player and composer of music. He was the manager of Simi Valley Music in the late 1970’s and was a member of the Simi Valley band, Weekertin Daze. His passionate love of music and the guitar influenced many to pursue a love of playing guitar as well. Mike had a sense of adventure, and along with his wife, Pamela, enjoyed traveling to Mexico to explore the Mayan ruins and underground rivers, as well as snorkel. He also loved hitting the road in their trailer and touring many of our National Parks and famous landmarks. His other interests were watching classic movies, pencil drawings, and snow skiing. Mike was loved by anyone who met him, he had a great sense of humor, and will be missed by many. Michael is survived by his loving wife of more than 36 years, Pamela Mook Foley; his mother, Shirley Eddy and brother, Jeff Eddy, both of AZ; father in law, Walter Mook; brother in laws and sister in laws, Lisa Eddy, Robert and Rosalinda Mook, Kenneth and Charisse Mook and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews; friends; and his band and riding “brothers”. He also leaves behind his loving and faithful cats, Honeybun and SusieQ, who were always by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Foley; his step father, Michael Eddy; his grandmother, Viola Smith; and his mother-in-law, Jeanne Mook. To honor Mike’s memory, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley, CA on April 16th, 2016 at 5:00pm, followed by a reception and Weekertin Daze band tribute at the Arena in Simi Valley, CA. A Memorial Ride will follow in Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation area near Gorman, CA on May 1st, 2016. A memorial donation may be made in Michael’s name to the Kidney Cancer Association, or a charity that supports his interests in music, motorcycles or cat rescue.
