I remember when I met Mike in 1976. We became very close friends. We shared the same passion for rock and roll. We spent countless hours playing music, talking about guitars and amplifiers, girls, cars, concerts. Mike was a great fiend who was gentle and kind and passionate. I am several years younger and Mike was like an older brother. We wrote songs and pursued a passion of playing loud and often. Simi Valley was a very special place. It was where Mike and Pam lived. Where I could be free and pursue the dreams of being a rock star. Eventually I had to make some really hard decisions and pursue other interests that took me to far away places. I miss those times and it makes me sad that I left that place. But when I see the pictures here it takes me back. I can hear Mike's voice and see his smile. I can even remember his handshake strangely enough. I only really hung out for 5 or 6 years with Mike and Pam but it was so very special. People come and go but Mike never left. I still carry him with me whereever I go. When I look at the Fender Twin Reverb I bought from Simi Valley Music, I smile. Mike sold me that wonderful amp. When I see the picture of Mike playing his cherry SG, I smile. In spite of the loud music and fast times, the thing I will remember most are the quiet conversations we had talking about life and the pursuit of dreams. I miss you Mike.
Love Brad,
Tucson, Arizona

Pam, losing one's husband can cause loneliness unlike any other, but know you have friends and family near to help ease the difficulty of days ahead. Perhaps it will help to lessen the sorrow of Mike's death to realize that so many of your friends and co-workers share your grief. Diana Wender and I send you our deepest sympathy and say that our thoughts have been with you since we heard of Mike's passing. We send you our love to give you strength to bear your sorrow. Pam, please let us know if you need anything.

Dear Pam,
My sincere condolences to you and your family. I wish you all strength and comfort during this time. Mike was a mentor to me and took me under his wing during my time in Weekertin Daze. That meant a great deal to me and it showed me what a giving person Mike was.
A few years prior, I was looking to buy my first “real” bass guitar. I wandering into the local music store with a pocket full of hard earned cash and no clue what I wanted or needed. Mike greeted me with a big smile and as I picked out a black Fender bass, Mike abruptly said, “Nah, you don’t want that one, you want THIS ONE”! He then took the next thirty minutes showing me the special features and nuances of the instrument, all while treating me as an equal and making me feel like I was a real musician and not the punk kid that I actually was.
I took Mike’s advice and played that same bass in Weekertin Daze, as well as every single music project I’ve been in since. That was thirty five years ago, and I still play it to this day…
You were right, Mike!

Dearest Pam,
My heart goes out to you. Words cannot express how sad I am in my heart for your loss. You are a strong woman and have endured so much these past years. I have continually prayed the Rosary for you and Mike. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see him smiling and laughing, sharing stories at your house. Keep all the good memories close to your heart. Thank you for sharing your Yellowstone pictures. So glad you two were able to have this time together. Look up to the stars and know he is shining there with your mom and my mom and all the special people that we have lost. They will keep us safe until it is our time to join them. I love you dearly and will be there for the Memorial.
BIG hugs,
Carrie Ann Rettberg

I wish I knew Mike better because I know he was a great person, a ton of fun to hang around with. I loved watching him play the guitar; he made that instrument sing.....LOUDLY! I am sorry for the loss of Mike and wish all of his family & friends the best. I will see you all at his Celebration of Life and at the Weekertin Daze band tribute at the Arena in April.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful life. Mike was a beautiful soul & he loved life so much. He made you very happy, Pam, & you have all of these wonderful memories of your love & life together. I know Mike fought hard to stay with you, but God had another plan. Take comfort in knowing that Mike is healed, pain free & preparing a place for you both to live in the Kingdom of Heaven, together for eternity.
