Obituary of Beverly Jean Frye

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly Jean Frye left peacefully to be with our Lord on December 27, 2015 surrounded by her family. Beverly was born on October 13, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio - the firstborn child of Virgina Devlin (Zwiesler) and Thomas “Tommy” Devlin. At the age of 19, Beverly married the love of her life, Tom Frye, and moved with him to Sunland, California. The young couple soon purchased a home in Chatsworth, California where they raised six devoted children. Beverly continued to reside in Chatsworth for the rest of her life. Beverly always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She and her husband Tom were founding parishioners and active members of St. John Eudes Church, helping establish the church in 1963 and helping to rebuild the church following the Northridge Earthquake in 1994. Beverly joyfully assisted her parish for many years by participating in Altar Duty, the Women's Guild, and becoming a Eucharistic Minister, which included taking communion to parishioners unable to make it to Mass. Raising six children on a single salary was challenging for the couple, yet they sent all six of them to St. John Eudes Catholic School beginning with the opening of the school. Beverly valued her church community, neighbors, and many friends. She was an avid bowler, playing weekly with her bowling league for many years. Beverly was a devout Catholic who often attended retreats with the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart Retreat House. She served the retreat house as a District Co-Captain. Beverly enjoyed her family. She and Tom would take the kids tent-camping during the early years. After the children were grown, the couple often traveled in their camper. They enjoyed the trip as much as the destination, often leaving their scheduled arrival date open. Beverly traveled many places with friends and family, including the west coast, Colorado, Canada, Ohio, Boston, Hawaii, Ireland, France, England and Italy. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Tom Frye, brother Danny Devlin, sister Marilyn Hoke, and son Steve Frye. Beverly leaves behind daughters Linda Looman, Susan (Larry) Nava, Nancy (Bob) Valdes, Karen (Jeff) Randolph, Mary Kay (Steven) Kramer, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and her late son Steve Frye's fiancée Diane McDonald and her two sons. Beverly’s family wishes to thank all for their kindness and friendship over her lifetime and during this time of profound loss. A beautiful singing voice, peacefulness of spirit, and unwavering Faith will raise Beverly up to Heaven and reunite her with her loved ones. Please join us in celebrating her life.
