Obituary of Jack Dennis Donahue

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jack Donahue, 73, of Thousand Oaks passed away on October 28, 2015 after a two-year valiant battle with cancer. Jack was a man of many talents, had a great sense of humor, and will be missed by all who knew him. After school, he joined the Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. He worked many places, including the Los Angeles Zoo as a landscape supervisor, at Griffith Park as a park ranger, and at Pacific Sod farms in Camarillo, then went on to become the successful owner of American Automatic Sprinkler for many years where he had a close business relationship with Nakae & Associates. He was also a Rotarian with Conejo Valley Rotary. After retiring he spent endless hours on woodworking projects in his shop (garage), making furniture for family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and boating, fishing, watching sports, playing poker with his friends and family and just being at home. Jack is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years, Jody, daughters Kellie (Brian) and Jackie (Philip), grandson Josh, granddaughters Maura and Sofia, great grandson Jace who loved to spend time in the garage with his “Pop”, brothers Bob (Joanie) and Rene, brother-in-law Jim Miller, many other relatives. A special thank you to Buena Vista for their excellent care and support and a special thank you to the Rose Family Funeral Home in assisting with arrangements. A time of gathering will be Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors Project in Jack’s name would be appreciated.
