Obituary of James Alma Ralph Jensen

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Alma Ralph Jensen Thousand Oaks James Alma Ralph Jensen, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2015, after a 13-month battle with esophageal cancer. Jim was born on July 29,1938 in Price, Utah, the son of Byron Jensen and Virginia Rieben Jensen. He attended the University of Utah, where he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering. He began his professional career in 1961 with what at the time was Litton Industries in Woodland Hills. It was there he met his beloved wife, Jan. They married in 1966, after meeting in a company-sponsored bowling league. Jim and Jan and their family resided in Northridge for 22 years before moving to Thousand Oaks in 1990. He retired after 44 years with what had now become Northrop Grumman. Jim was very proud of his role working on the software for the navigation equipment for the F-18 aircraft, and he enjoyed having the opportunity to do testing on many different aircraft carrier trips. This kind, modest man was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He enjoyed reading, music, photography and traveling with his family in their motorhome. He was a long-time member of Calvary Community Church, where he volunteered on the technical team running the sound board in the recording studio. Jim is survived by his wife, Jan, their son, Andrew, and their daughter, Kelly McClain. He was also proud to be David McClain's grandfather. The family wishes to thank Jim's doctors and nurses for their kind caring, and for the many prayers from relatives, friends, and his family at Calvary. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 20th at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim's name to Calvary Community Church or the American Cancer Society.
