Obituary of Dorafaye Lewis Olsen

Dorafaye Lewis Olsen, age 86, passed away on January 28, 2015 in Simi Valley, CA. She was born the daughter of Clarence Carl and Marjorie Janeitta (Faulkner) Lewis in Ogden, UT. Dorafaye was one of four children in her family. Dorafaye grew up and attended school in Vallejo, CA. On September 30, 1946, she married Thomas Blackburn Olsen in Salt Lake City, UT. The couple moved from Utah to California and lived in Vallejo and Tahoe, in Minneapolis and Racine, WI areas, Modesto, CA and finally settled in Panorama City, CA to raise their growing family. After her beloved Tom passed away in 1974, Dorafaye was a young single mother left to raising her youngest two children Daniel and Diane. Dorafaye married Joseph Bath who passed away a few years later. She also married Burton Elsebusch and they settled in Simi Valley, CA. After Burton’s passing, Dorafaye remained living in Simi Valley and considered it her home. Dorafaye was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Rupert Olsen, her father Clarence, mother Marjorie, brother Jack Reese Lewis and her beloved husband Thomas Olsen. She is survived by her Daughter, Faye Kellogg of St. George, UT; son, Thomas (and Jana) Olsen of St. George, UT; son, Daniel (and Jill) Olsen of St. George, UT; daughter, Diane (and Harold) Alvord of Simi Valley, CA; brother, Vernal Lewis of Petaluma, CA; and brother Edwin Lewis of Vallejo, CA. 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren,(with 2 more soon to arrive) and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. Dorafaye loved her Savior , Jesus Christ and followed his teachings all of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express a special thank you to Assisted Home Hospice and to those who provided service and loving care at Vintage Simi Hills for the three years she lived there. We are sure she was very appreciative for the care she received from all. Viewing for Dorafaye will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 with the funeral to follow at 2PM. They will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 3979 Township Ave Simi Valley, CA 93065. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on February 2, 2015 at the Eternal Valley Cemetery in Newhall, CA. Thank you to the Rose Family Funeral Home for their services. If one so wishes, memorial contributions can be made in Dorafaye’s name to The American Cancer Society or for Dementia/Alheizmer Research.
