Obituary of Jose Bonifacio Cervantes Aceves
Jose Bonifacio Cervantes Aceves, age 104, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Thousand Oaks, California on November 10, 2024. Born on May 14, 1920, in San Cristobal Zapotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He is survived by his children: Joaquin Cervantes, Maria Elena Cervantes, Eva Hickok, Cruz Maria Madrigal, Jose Luis Cervantes, and Isaias Cervantes. His legacy continues through his 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He now joins his beloved wife of 81 years, Maria de Jesus, and sons Vicente and Rejino in heaven, where they are surely embracing him with open arms.
In his lifetime, Jose exemplified the values of hard work and generosity. His life was punctuated with his love of being a cowboy. He rode bulls until his early 80s and continued riding his horse into his 90s. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Rose Family Funeral Home Chapel in Simi Valley, California. A rosary will be recited in Spanish at 6:30 pm. The funeral mass, in Spanish, will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Simi Valley. Jose will be interred in his hometown of San Cristobal Zapotitlan, Mexico.

José Bonifacio Cervantes Aceves, de 104 años, falleció pacíficamente rodeado de sus seres queridos en Thousand Oaks, California, el 10 de noviembre de 2024. Nacido el 14 de mayo de 1920 en San Cristóbal Zapotitlán, Jalisco, México, José fue un devoto esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y tatarabuelo. A José le sobreviven sus hijos: Joaquín Cervantes, María Elena Cervantes, Eva Hickok, Cruz Maria Madrigal, José Luis Cervantes e Isaías Cervantes. Su legado continúa a través de sus 29 nietos, 28 bisnietos y 6 tataranietos.
Ahora se reúne en el cielo con su amada esposa de 81 años de matrimonio, María de Jesús, y sus hijos Vicente y Regino, quienes seguramente lo reciben con los brazos abiertos.
En vida, José ejemplificó los valores del trabajo arduo y la generosidad. Su vida estuvo marcada por su amor por ser vaquero. Montó toros hasta principios de sus 80 años y continuó montando su caballo hasta los 90 años. Todos los que lo conocieron lo extrañarán profundamente y su legado vivirán en los corazones de su familia y amigos para siempre.
Una velación se llevará a cabo el jueves 21 de noviembre de 2024, de 5:00 a 9:00 pm en la Capilla Rose Family Funeral Home en Simi Valley, California. Se rezará un rosario en español a las 6:30 pm. La misa fúnebre, en español, se llevará a cabo el viernes 22 de noviembre de 2024, a las 10:00 am en la Iglesia Católica St. Peter Claver en Simi Valley. José será enterrado en su ciudad natal de San Cristóbal Zapotitlán, México.
