Born in St.Louis, Mo. she moved with her family to Los Angeles in 1922; celebrating her 4th birthday on the train. She was active with the Boy Scouts, a troop leader for the Girl Scouts for nine years and a volunteer transcriber for The Braille Institute for twelve years. After retirement in 1977, she and Bill began traveling in their RV throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Alaska. They drove the Alcan five times and had many exciting experiences to relate. They moved to Simi Valley in 1987 to be near their daughters Susan and Jenny. In 1991, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise through the Panama Canal. Bill passed away in 1994 and Dorothy was supported by her loving children and her caring church friends. She was active at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included needlework, reading mystery novels and playing games on her Kindle. Her purpose in life was to be the world's greatest grandmother to her much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her four children: Bill (Maggie), Susan (Mario), Lenore (Tom), Jennifer (Marvin), as well as her grandchildren; William, Robert, Adam, Elyse, Michelle, Michael. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: McKade, Trenady, Ashley, Drew, Bryce, and one on the way. Dorothy thanked God daily for the gift of caring children without whom she could not have lived so long.
