Obituary of Manuel Joseph Quesada
Manuel Joseph Quesada, 94, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, in Moorpark, CA, surrounded by family. Born on August 12, 1929, in Los Angeles, CA, Manuel lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a career committed to public service.
Manuel's early life in Los Angeles laid a strong foundation for a man who would become known for his kindness and generosity. His career began in the public sector in 1955 when he joined the County of Los Angeles, ascending to the role of Superior Court Clerk before his retirement in 1989. His commitment to fairness and diligence made him a respected figure in the courtroom and beyond.
His service to the nation was equally distinguished. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1946, Manuel was assigned to the 325 Glider Infantry Regiment, part of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division. Completing two tours of duty, he later continued his service in the Air Force reserves, retiring in October 1993. His military career was characterized by a profound commitment to his fellow soldiers and to the principles of freedom and duty.
Beyond his professional and military life, Manuel was a passionate traveler. His journeys took him across the United States and to international destinations such as Japan, Korea, Mexico, Europe and his favorite city, Seville, Spain. He also enjoyed Mariachi and Classical music and loved to read.
Manuel was a family man above all, deeply cherished by his children Elizabeth McGeein, Robert Paul Quesada, and Michael Quesada. He was a proud grandfather to Cody McGeein, Garrett McGeein, Lauren Quesada, Emmanuel and Jessica Quesada, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca Quesada, and siblings Antonio, Reymundo, Jose Quesada, Virginia Hermosillo, Luis Quesada, and Mary Perry.
A Funeral Mass will be held on July 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 13955 Peach Hill Road, Moorpark, CA. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Drive, Rosemead, CA. A Celebration of his life will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Quiet Cannon, 901 N Via San Clemente, Montebello, CA, in the Skyview Banquet room. Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley, CA, is assisting the family during this time.
