Obituary of Vincent DeFilippis

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share with you the passing of our beloved father Vincent DeFilippis. Vincent (Genzi/Papa) passed away knowing the abundant love of his family on May 27, 2024, in Simi Valley California, at the age of 92. Vincent was born in Valenzano Puglia Italy. At the age of 14, his family moved to the neighboring city of Loseto, where he met and fell in love with 10-year-old Francesca Carone, the love of his life. Vincent loved to race bicycles and ride motorcycles. He worked in road construction, giving him the opportunity to travel all around Puglia and southern Italy. On December 4, 1954, he married Francesca. In the Fall of 1955, Francesca, his mother-in-law (Margherita) and Vincent sailed away to start a new life in Toronto, Canada. His young family started with the births of his two daughters, Josephine and Marguerite. Vincent worked as a machinist at Macechin Adhesives, and learned the trade as he went. He was self-taught in everything he did. In 1968 he said “Goodbye” to the cold winters of Canada and moved his family to sunny California. He worked with his wife at Price Pfister Industries for 12 years. In 1980 he proudly started working at Lockheed Martin Aerospace, where he was a Maintenance Mechanic. This was by far one of the proudest  accomplishments of his life. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, gardening, Italian Series A soccer and most of all, spending time with family and friends. He loved playing cards, laughing and singing loudly as he drove. He loved and was loved by so many. Vincent is survived by his wife Francesca, daughters Josephine(Tim) and Marguerite(Rick), grandchildren Francesca, Vincent (Katie), Steven, Christina (Tyler), Tim, Vincenzo and great grandchildren Marguerite, Odin, Rowley,  sister Maria (Frank), and many nieces and nephews.      He is predeceased by his parents Michele and Giuseppina DeFilippis, older sister Maria, brothers Angelo and Pasquale. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Papa, you will always be fondly remembered and will remain in our hearts forever.
