Phyllis grew up in Ley Hill where she attended school and played with her siblings: Wynn, Ernie, and Harvey. Her brother, Harvey, passed away when she was 5 years old.

At the age of 12 Phyllis was chosen with a few other school children from her school to sing before Queen Elizabeth I. Phyllis lived her teen years, along with her family, during the tumultuous World War II years.
On March 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to Gibbons Dallas Clark who was serving in the American military two miles from Ley Hill. Prior to their marriage Phyllis joined Gibb and a few other service members to form the American Gospel Team. This team traveled and held evangelistic meetings in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Shortly after her marriage to Gibb she left England for America. Together Gibb and Phyllis transitioned from evangelistic meetings and travel to a pastoral ministry. Serving in seven different churches: Miles Ave Baptist Church, Cleveland OH; Northwest Gospel Church, Detroit MI; Wadhams Baptist Church, Port Huron MI; Maranatha Baptist Church, Lansing MI; Decatur Bible Church, Decatur,MI; and Foothill Baptist Church, Sylmar CA.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Coleen Clark, Becky (Mick) Lindsay, and Dan (Cherie Clark); loved and adored by 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; loved by her extended family-nieces and nephews-in the US and England.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Gibbons Clark; her son, David Clark; her brothers: Ernie and Harvey Joiner; and her sister, Wynn James.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by so many for her love for the Lord, her family, and for being a prayer warrior. She loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids sporting games.
