My dearest Karen, I will forever be grateful for your beautiful friendship. I remember the many fun selfies and pictures we would take at Carlthorp School for almost every event. I will never forget your KINDNESS! I remember you would always check on me while I waited for my heart transplant at UCLA Hospital and share all kinds of fun videos from Carlthorp Family to cheer me up and make me feel I was there. I was lucky enough to spend a great deal of time with Karen during my 15 years at Carlthorp School. I helped her with a few major projects like choosing a school data management system then supporting her as she implemented it. She was determined to figure things out on her own and was very good at it, but when she finally needed help she was truly the most patient person I’ve ever worked with. She was very shy and one could always tell when she was a bit embarrassed because her face would turn bright red. She also liked to be in on practical jokes, sometimes even being the instigator. Some of them were brilliant and gave me a good laugh. Animals knew her instantly. The 1st time she met our cats, our female cat instantly jumped in her lap as she took an instant liking to Karen. This was the opposite of how our cat usually reacted to guests, hiding under our bed. I am so blessed to have had Karen in my life. Rest in peace you beautiful soul!
