Obituary of Brian Davison

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brian Davison went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2013 after a battle with heart disease. Brian was born in Thetford, Norfolk, England on April 17, 1926 to Edward Ernest and Beatrice Myrtle Davison. Brian grew up in Thetford, England during the Depression and World War II with his mother and sisters, Connie and Doreen, and future brother-in-law, Les Atkins. He loved to sing and was a member of the award-winning school choir in 1937. As a young boy he showed an interest in electronics by dismantling and re-assembling a radio just to see how it worked. At the age of 17 his father secured an apprenticeship for Brian at an electronics firm in Luten, England. Brian is survived by his beloved wife Jean, daughter, Gail, son, Grant, granddaughter, Christina, extended family and many friends. Brian served in the Royal Air Force from 1944 to 1947 and was trained as a radar operator, earning the rank of Flight Sergeant before honorable discharge in Malaysia in 1947. During his service in the RAF, Brian was stationed in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland and at various bases throughout England. He was also stationed in Egypt, North Africa, and established Radar Stations throughout India, Singapore and Malaysia. He also spent a brief period of time in France. While in India he had the privilege of visiting the Himalayas, Nainital and the Taj Mahal. Upon his honorable discharge from the RAF, Brian and his best friend Tom Crowe were given passage anywhere in the British Empire as part of their severance. They chose Toronto, Canada. Brian worked a variety of jobs, including restaurant chef, before being hired as an electrical technician at the Canadian Arsenals Ltd. He met Jean Darlaston in 1948 at the British Immigrant Club, The 7,000 Club dance in Toronto. Jean enjoyed Brian's excellent dancing and sense of humor. They were married on May, 27, 1950 and had their first child, Gail, in 1955. Sensing opportunities in aerospace, Brian moved his family to Los Angeles, California in 1959 and was immediately hired by RCA as an Electrical Engineer. In 1961, Brian and Jean had their second child, Grant. Brian became a born-again Christian in 1963 and began attending 1st Assembly of God Church, Canoga Park, CA. In 1968, he and his family began attending Simi Valley Assembly of God Church - Church of the Living Christ - which his family continues to attend. He taught Sunday School, served as a Church Deacon for many years, and along with his wife Jean, headed the Prime Timers Senior Citizen group for 14 years. Brian cared deeply about others strongly and believed in the power of prayer. He ministered to many senior citizens in hospitals and nursing homes earning him the honorary title of "Pastor Brian". He remained in aerospace working for RCA and Rantec before becoming the Director of Program Management in 1971 at a startup company known as Wavecom, and its subsequent parent companies until his retirement in 1992. Brian had a passion for photography, sound-related electronics, cooking, ballroom dancing, tap dancing, and a great love of animals. He would have liked a lion or tiger as a house pet. He enjoyed Christmastime and preparing traditional English sausage rolls with his granddaughter, Christina. Brian and Christina attended Rosalie's School of Dance and participated in the annual dance performance. Brian is deeply loved and will be sadly missed. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 31st, at the Rose Family Chapel, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Living Christ, 171 Royal Ave, Simi Valley.
