Obituary of Albert Miranda

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Albert "Al" Miranda of Simi Valley passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, March 13th, at 86 years old.  He is survived by wife Rosa Miranda, former wife Nancy Miranda, sister Alice Garcia, brother Victor, daughters Belinda Fisher, Theresa Miranda, son Albert Jr., grandchildren Shanan Fisher and Clint Fisher, great-grandchild Axyl Fisher, step daughters Daneyra Reyes, Ana Pacheco, and Carolyn Berridge, and step sons Greg, David Sessing and Leo Pacheco. Al was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Georgina Miranda, brother Joe Jr., youngest son Richard Miranda, and wife Sharon Miranda.

Al graduated from Canoga Park high school in 1954, and immediately went into the construction business.  Al and partner Ken Whetstone began Advanced Pool Construction, a swimming pool building business in Van Nuys, in the 1960's.  Al later branched out on his own to form Al Miranda Swimming Pool Excavation.  Al specialized in digging swimming pools for famous celebrities and large construction projects. His business thrived during the 1970's through the 90's with the swimming pool construction boom, and later grading lots for real estate developers.  Al enjoyed all forms of construction, often helping others with a variety of home building tasks.

It would be an understatement to say Al loved golf.  He could always be found at Simi HIlls golf course on Saturday and Sunday at daybreak.  Come rain or shine, freezing temperatures, or raging fires, Al would find a way to get out on the course to follow his golfing passion. Al also loved telling jokes and pulling pranks on everybody, especially co-workers.  He also thoroughly enjoyed tending to his aviary where he raised dozens of cockatiels, often selling them to pet stores and giving some away to family and friends.

Al leaves a legacy to always have a good time while living life to the fullest.  He persisted in keeping family and friends entertained.

Funeral services will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran St, Simi Valley on Tuesday evening, March 28th.  Viewing will be from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. with memorial services and reception to follow.

Interment services will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth on Wednesday at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
