I met Dick when I went to work at Hughes in 1980. We became good friends then and remained friends ever since then. We shared a sense of humor and many interests. He was a fine musician and artist. He often shared fish with us that he caught and smoked. On December 7th we sang Remember Pearl Harbor together on the phone without fail. God bless Dick Torst! Lary Stevens

My good friend and sport fishing mentor. I have so many fond memories of tagging along with Dick on numerous fishing outings pulling in calico bass, halibut, white fish and rock fish. Dick taught me the tricks of the trade. Those trips with him were so much fun. When Dick was the Simi Valley Stake Sports Athletic Director and was presiding over the youth basketball games, I would hang out with him at the youth basketball games and he would cheer for all the players. He always had a story to tell and I marveled at his experiences and insights....and he was such a talented guy. Dick was a good man, a VERY good man, with a smile as big as a mile. He touched my life and my family in many special ways. God Speed my friend.

He was our family's home teacher for many years, since I was a teenager, and long after I left. I remember his visits and his kindness toward me, my mom, my dad, and my sister.

Such a kind gentle but firm man. He adored Arlene and I am grateful they are reunited. He shared his many talents and gifts with his family. And he had the most wonderful smile. I know he is enjpying the company of many of his friends that preceded him in death. Kind, thoughtful and caring with a great love of the gospel and a true example. He will be missed.

Grandpa and his great grand-daughter, Meadow. Eliel and I are so thankful that she got to meet him. We will remind her to look for him as she enjoys the outdoors. His admiration and respect for nature, music, art, and family will certainly live on for many, many generations. Love and miss you Grandpa!
