Obituary of Betty Rose Mateko

Betty Rose Mateko, 91, of Chatsworth, CA, passed away on January 20, 2023 in Northridge Hospital, Northridge, California.

 

Funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on March 3, 2023 at 9:30am with Deacon Melecio Zamora of St. Peter Claver officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 6300, Forest Lawn Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90068.  Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

 

Betty was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edith and Bismark Paolucci on April 15, 1931. She went to from Van Nuys High school and graduated in 1949. He/she worked as an Administrator for Data Products and Andy Gump, for Ralph Bovitz as an administrative assistant, and as a sales person] for JC Penny’s. She enjoyed spending time with family, Sunday worship, traveling, walking, bowling, playing cards, and reading. She was involved in several charity related roles with the Catholic Church.

 

Betty was married to Jerry Mateko in Chicago Illinois on February 14, 1953. They were married for 46 years until Jerry’s passing on October 29, 1999. Betty is survived by his/her sons Bruce Mateko of Northridge, Danny Mateko of Moorpark, Jerry Mateko of Simi Valley and daughter Debbie Schwanke of La Quinta.  Betty’s survivors include her sister Susan Linn, grandchildren: Breanne Shaw, Cole Mateko, Taylor Mateko, Brad Mateko, Grant Mateko, Jarod Mateko, Erica Dodd, Kurt Mateko, Troy Schwanke, Tyler Schwanke and Trenton Schwanke. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren with two more on the way.

 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. John Eudes for their spiritual care for Betty. Betty deeply loved her family and friends very much and was very much loved by them. We will greatly miss her but are comforted that Betty was trusting in Jesus Christ as her Savior and is now at peace and rest with him in heaven.
