One of our fun trips with the McCarroll Gang down in Cabo. She was always so loving and welcoming, she even attempted to teach us how to drink tequila! The wife and I finally ran out of gas by day three, and like the energizer bunny, Birdie just kept on going... Amazing stamina!
Rest in Peace, Love you Forever!

Bernada helped take care of our son Mathew before he was in school. Treating him like he was her own. She treated everybody like family. Loving and honest.
Bernada we all love and miss you. See you one day on the other side.

I’ll never forget first meeting Birdie! We had just moved in across the street, and she and Bill had met my dad first. One day I hear happy laughter at the door, and the doorbell rings. It was Birdie and a friend inviting me to their joint birthday party at Claudette’s house. She said, “We don’t know each other, I’m Birdie! I’m your neighbor, and I’d love it if you’d come to my birthday party!” I came by myself, and enjoyed the warm hospitality of Birdie and her family on a beautiful sunny day! That was the picture of the rest of the time I would know her! Birdie, my neighbor and my friend, sharing family and friends, inviting you in to eat, talk, laugh, and listen to amazing stories of life!
As I ended up taking care of my guy’s mother, Bill and Birdie were a source of encouragement during these hard days, months, and years. As I got laid off from an engineering job, Bill and Birdie encouraged me to try a new path. I’ve spent countless hours around their table talking and laughing about adventures in engineering, life, travel, family, personalities. They are just so encouraging and fun to talk to about anything!
Most recently, Andy and I finally got engaged, and I stopped by to tell her about plans for a Vegas wedding. Birdie had just gotten diagnosed that day. We spent several hours talking about the roller coaster of life, and how it’s just not for sissies. I knew this was a transition point for both of us. We just sat and encouraged each other, and talked it through. She said she was going to come dance at my wedding in Vegas! She told me how important she felt it was to be married, that you know you have each other through ANYTHING. She cherished her marriage and all that she and Bill had worked together for and been through! In the depths of our conversation, though, she told me about how some religious people had been unkind and judgmental to her during the early part of her marriage, and that she may not be outwardly religious, but she knows God. She told me of her deep faith of trusting God after she prayed that her baby daughter would live. I cried as she told me that story! We had church that day. I knew it was an amazing moment. Birdie leaves behind an amazing family she was so proud of, and that she made everyone feel they were part of.
What has come to my heart so much since losing Birdie is from that last long talk on the couch… the story of when the religious people in the Bible were trying to trap Jesus, and asked Him what is the greatest commandment in the law. He said first Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and the second was LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. (Matt.22:34-40) Birdie lived this out, bringing food to her neighbors during hard times, being encouraging, always ready for a visit to enjoy her sunny personality, and caring for the DETAILS of peoples’ lives. Bill, let’s keep the conversations going! You’re the other half of being amazing neighbors! Birdie, my neighbor and my friend, and inspiring example of a wife, a generous soul, I already miss you, but this is not good-bye, it’s till we meet again! I know you’ll be dancing at our wedding… in my heart!

Dear Birdie, how many anecdotes, learning, advice, good times, and memories do you leave us... Today you are surely at peace, ready and prepared to go shopping, look for some good deals and enjoy the slot machines as you used to every time you came to Vegas. But it is a fact that what you enjoyed the most was making new friends and chatting with everyone. You always shared an anecdote with a smile, advice, and an invitation to spend good times with you. We will never forget the talks for hours that we had gathered at your house when you and Bill came to Vegas. It was time to catch up and laugh until we could not. We must always thank you for the good treatment, kindness, generosity, trust, and good energy that both you and Bill have always given us at all times. How to forget the day we met for the first time and you told us that you were finally going to practice your Spanish!!! From that moment on, you always found the time to speak to us in Spanish and tell us your story. Birdie, today we are not saying goodbye, but we will simply tell you...See you later!!! Because if God gave us the privilege of knowing each other, he will surely give us a new opportunity to meet again one day. We love you very much, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you.
With love, Jesse and Gustavo Leimbek

Our family moved next door to Mrs. Birdie and Mr. Bill going on three years now. From the day we moved in Mrs. Birdie has been nothing but the kindest, generous, and thoughtful neighbor. She always thought about our kids and referred to them as “my kids”. Mrs. Birdie would often go to the store and buy the kids treats from cookies, to candies, and anything else she could find. She would leave them by the wall for the kids to find and the three would eagerly rush and see what new treats Mrs. Birdie had left them for them. She often would call my wife and tell her to come meet her by the wall to give her some kind of produce often leading to her stories of her past. We were truly blessed and spoiled having Mrs. Birdie and Mr. Bill as our neighbors, we couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor. We love you Mrs. Birdie, thank you for all the love, kindness, and generosity you’ve shown us these passed few years. Your presence will be truly missed.

Dear Chris,
My mom was so pleased when you guys moved in. She said she loved to hear the kids playing because it always made her so happy. I remember being at the store & she would get so excited when she saw cookies because she immediately thought of the kids.
Thank you for returning the love
