My heart is so very saddened to hear about your mothers passing. Your mom was like the neighborhood grandma who was loved by so many. I will always remember her sweet smile and positive attitude. Joan was so kind and generous to me. She opened her apartment to me as I (Shonnie Alcini) followed in her footsteps and tried to get a start in California. Joan was dating Burket at the time which made it more of a sacrifice for her to have me around.
Joan took extra interest and care of me which was very special to me. I am the youngest of Joan's brother and sisters. When I had my first child our mother was up in years and not able to help like a younger mother would have. Joan traveled all the way from California to Michigan with the whole family to help me out learning how to be a new mother.
So sorry to hear about aunt Joanne's passing. She was my godmother and I will always remember waiting for my birthday gift coming from California in the mail
