Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean Linda Dreshner, 58, of Porter Ranch CA, passed away in the early morning of 9/18/13 after a brave, determined and aggressive battle with Lymphoma Cancer. She was born 11/25/54 to Vincent and Madeline Dreshner (both deceased) and spent her life living in the greater Los Angeles area. "Jeannie" was a prominent figure in the Retail Grocery Industry and a long time member of the California Deli Council. Jean was instrumental in implementing and organizing many fund raising events throughout the years including the City of Hope. She was dedicated, loyal, passionate and worked tirelessly in her profession! Jean began her working career at the Los Angeles Board of Education. In 1978, after having her son Gregory, she decided to change her career direction and took a part time position as a bakery clerk with Hughes Family Markets. She relentlessly worked her way up to Director of Bakery, Deli and Dairy, and she maintained this position with Ralph's markets after they acquired Hughes. For the last 12 years she had been Vice President of Hows Markets, her office was located in Pasadena, CA. Jeannie was intelligent, devoted, humorous and had a bright, beautiful smile that was contagious to everyone around her. She was loving, caring and maternal, the "Matriarch" of the Dreshner's. She liked to cook and travel but most of all, spend time with her close knit family. Jeannie recently celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary with her very loyal and extremely devoted husband, Bob Hernandez. Jeannie is survived by her son Gregory Hernandez, twin sister Jan Hornstein, sisters Vivian Hopkins and Susie Warrington, brothers Bill and Vince Dreshner, nieces Nicole Deter, Candice, Lynda, Charlene Hopkins, Madison Dreshner, nephew Mitchell White, great niece Ava, great nephews Wyatt, Oliver and Abbott. She will also be greatly missed by her mentor and partner Dave Wolff of Hows Markets, Irene Graves, Sue Bargsten, Patti Winsell and many other friends and associates. The funeral service will be held on: Tuesday, September 24th at 10.00 a.m at the Oakwood Cemetery chapel. There will also be a short graveside service, for those who wish to attend.
