Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael "Mitch" Manos passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, September 18, 2013. Mitch was born in Price Utah on January 16th, 1938. After losing his parents at an early age he lived in foster homes until he joined the Air Force in 1955. In the 60's and 70's Mitch worked off the California coast on communications ships and in Alaska, finally settling in southern California. He retired as the head of a major corporate personnel department, after 30 years, and started his own temporary personnel business. He followed this up with 12 years in his own paralegal business. Through those years he herded turkeys, raced cars, flew airplanes, managed a steakhouse, traveled, made friends, loved his family and always golfed. Mitch loved to learn, he loved talking politics and sports. He had smart, educated opinions on almost any subject and had the ability to explain his views in depth. He had a questioning mind and could understand how things worked without ever being shown or taught. He was fiercely independent and lived his life to deep-set principals and private faith. Mitch made lifelong friends, treasured his family and adored his wife. He had a fantastic deep laugh that could fill a room. He had an ever present sense of humor that you could see in his eyes and hear in the punch-line of his latest joke. He loved watching basketball... the Lakers were his favorite. Mitch loved to golf... He enjoyed the game, researched the clubs, fiddled with his swing, worked toward the perfect putting stroke, got aggravated and quit, started up again, walked in the sun, and made good friends. Mitch met Josie Hayes, the love of his life, in 1975 and they enjoyed 38 wonderful years together. Josie's family became his own and filled his life in a way he never knew as a child. Jean and Cecil Ohl, Denis Hayes, Mary Hayes Fox, Tom and Lisa Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Marissa and Cameron Luna, Tommy Hayes and Alex Fox. He is preceded in death by his son Mark and leaves behind his wife, Josie Manos, who adores him; his son, Micheal, who reveres him; and his son's wife, Elaine, who says he hung the moon. Services will be held at the Rose Family Chapel, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley at 11:00 am on Monday, September 23. Immediately following the service the family would like to invite everyone to join them at Viva La Pasta, 525 Country Club Drive, Simi Valley for a reception.
