Robert B. Rubio, Jr., known to family and friends as “Bobby” or “Sonny”, 82 years old, of Simi Valley, CA, passed away on July 10, 2020 at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, CA. Memorial services will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on July 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Victor Cervantes of New Hope Christian Fellowship officiating. Rose Family Funeral will be handling the funeral arrangements. Robert was born in Los Angeles, CA to Robert Martinez Rubio and Mary Bustamante Rubio on March 11, 1938. He went to high school at Canoga Park High and graduated in 1957. He enlisted into the U.S. Marines on February 25, 1957. He was a Machine Gunner specialist. He was stationed in Hawaii and served 3 years. In August 1960, he was hired by Warwick Electronics as a Cabinet Assembly & Technician. In April 1961, he was hired at Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, CA, as a Utility Man-General and continued to work different positions up to a Senior Computer Programmer. He retired in May 2005 from Boeing (formerly known as Rocketdyne Division, Rockwell International) after working 44 years. He earned an Associate in Science Electronic Technology from Moorpark College in June 1978. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, casinos, watching TV, visiting/spending time with family and friends. He received Rocketdyne Engineering and Test Achievement Award for Outstanding support in the Rotordynamic Analysis of SSME High Pressure Turbopumps, 1984; and Outstanding Contributions Award the SSME Hot-Fire Ground Test Program, 1987. Rocketdyne Special Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Development of the Automated Dynamic Data Analysis and Management Advancement in the Processing of High Frequency Data, May 1993. He was involved in Junior Varsity Cross Country (1955), Golf (1956), Varsity Cross Country (1956-57) at Canoga Park High School; played in golf tournaments in the 1960s and 1970s; bowling league in the 1980s. Robert is survived by his daughters MSgt (Ret) Diane Rubio, USAF of Simi Valley, CA; Cindee (Victor) Rubio-Cervantes of Tracy, CA; and Denise Rubio of Bakersfield, CA. Son Dean “Chester” Rubio (Taline) of Oak Park, CA; Step-son Raymond “Shawn” (Heidi) Morin. His is sister Alice Rubio of Phoenix, AZ. Former spouse Rosita “Rosie” Escalante of Simi Valley, CA. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert M. Rubio, Sr and Mary B. Rubio; brother Adolph B. Rubio, and baby girl Rosita Rubio. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family and friends for all their support and prayers. We are Thankful to Taline Rubio for her knowledge and guidance, and Dean Rubio for keeping the family updated of our father's condition. Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Kaiser Permanente Hospital’s ICU doctors and nursing staff who cared for our father. A special thank you to Rose Family Funeral Home for all their help, care, support, and guidance with our father’s Celebration of Life Service.
