Julia Bertha Matthews (Julie), 79, passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2020 in the comfort of her home in Simi Valley, CA.
Julie was born in Bridgeport, CT to Warren & Catherine Peet on March 2, 1941. Julie lived her life with zest and courage, and at the age of 34, her and her two youngest daughters made the exciting move across country to California. It was in California that she made a home for her family, and established herself as a Quality Control Inspector at BEI Edcliff Instruments. She enjoyed her career there for 30 years and made many lifelong friendships with her peers.
Julie adored her friends & family and absolutely loved celebrating them! She attended every wedding, every baby shower, every birthday party, and every BBQ. To each event she brought with her, her bright happy and loving disposition. She was a ray of light wherever she went.
Julie is survived by her husband, Chris Matthews (Simi Valley, CA), her sister, Bertha Tiano (Hamden, CT), her brother and sister-in-law, Warren & Janet Peet (Welton, AZ), her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine & Joshua Velez (Simi Valley, CA), her daughter and son-in-law, Anita & Michael Barratta (Simi Valley, CA), her 8 grandchildren, her 19 great grandchildren, and her 3 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Aragon (Woodland, CA), and her parents.
Julie’s family will be planning a Celebration of Life in the upcoming weeks.
