Please share a memory of Randy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Randy Scott Durand, 58, of Burbank, CA passed away on February 21, 2020 in West Hills, CA. Randy was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada to D. James and Eileen J. Durand on December 26, 1961. Randy attended Somerville High School in Somerville, New Jersey and while he completed some advanced education, his one true passion was horses. Randy developed into an outstanding equestrian who applied his unique skills in every facet of the sport – riding, sales and training. Surrounded by horses at a very young age, Randy’s first exposure to riding began at the age of 8. His early success with his first pony, Calypso, previewed his future commitment to the horse business, where he and his clients enjoyed significant accomplishments at the Local and National level over his 40-year career. A true sportsman, Randy is remembered not only for his many achievements, but also for his love of his horses which he treated with respect and affection, often kissing them as he walked down the barn aisle. Working with children was a special talent Randy possessed; he enjoyed making riding fun, which helped his child riders excel and develop skills and confidence they could take into their adult lives. Randy’s memory lives on with an extended family of many clients, business partners, and friends. Randy is survived by his father, D. James Durand of Acworth, GA; brother Douglas Durand (Diane) of Alpharetta, GA, niece and nephew Lindsay and Jake; sister Suzanne Mosley (Steve) of Marietta, GA and nephew, Matthew. Randy is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Eileen J. Durand. A Celebration of Life for Randy will be held in May 2020, in the San Fernando Valley (CA). Memorial donations may be made ASPCA or American Heart Association.
