Obituary of Zully N Gonzalez

Please share a memory of Zully to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Zully Pichardo de Gonzalez was born to Arturo and Carmen Pichardo on March 27, 1954 in Guatemala. She was the eldest of five children and grew up with two brothers and two sisters. In 1977 she married the love of her life, James Gonzalez who always surprised her with romantic gestures both big and small. Soon after she gave birth to daughters Cynthia and Karen before setting off to a new world with her young family in 1983. Zully and James left all they knew behind in the hopes of giving their children endless opportunities in the United States. They made a new home and later Zully gave birth to daughter Stephanie and son James. She worked for Bank of America for 24 years and was active in her parish, Our Lady of Lourdes in Tujunga. She retired to be at home so her children could grow under her watchful eyes, finish school, and start families of their own. A dedicated mother and grandmother, Zully was at the birth of all six of her grandchildren. She took up knitting and crocheting and had a marvelous talent for making baby blankets and an endless supply of beanies. She had a flare for crafting with her trusty Cricut, a hobby that turned into a sharp focus when weddings and baby showers became more frequent events. She loved her regular weekend breakfast dates with her husband and making the rounds with each of her children and grandchildren. Her cellphone was always at her side since she was the matriarch of a large family that spanned over two countries. Regular video chats with loved ones separated by distance were daily occurrences in her home. There was nothing more important to her than togetherness and family. Her family loved her, as she loved them, and remained vigilant in the ICU for 8 days, around the clock until she was called home to serve Our Lord and Holy Mother. She is survived by her husband James of 42 years, her four children, three sons-in-law, six grandchildren, four siblings, countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
