Obituary of Sheila McDowell Deming

Sheila McDowell Deming, 80, of Granada Hills, California, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019 in Granada Hills

Funeral service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on September 21, 2019 at 10:00 with ReverendGarry Dickey  officiating. A reception will be held at the funeral home after the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth California. Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Sheila was born in Piqua Ohio to Odes McDowell and Adel Jensen on May 21, 1939. She went to high school at Van Nuys  High School and graduated in 1957. She went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree in education with a minor in music  from Cal. State Northridge. She later went back to earn a master’s degree of science  in counseling. She worked as a high school teacher and counselor at Monroe High School for thirty eight years. She enjoyed playing guitar, singing, writing prose and stories, traveling, collecting dolls, and reading. 

Sheila is survived by her husband Robert, daughters Holly and Stephanie, sister Charlotte, and grandsons Christopher, Kyle, Connor and Keegan.

Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the incredible individuals at Home Care Assistance.
