Obituary of Jacqueline Thomas

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jacqueline, (Jackie), as she was referred to, was born on November 9, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of the late Wesley and the late Louise Howard. She was the last born of nine children; six brothers - Julius, Raymond (deceased), Roy, Lennell (deceased), Ricky (deceased), Derryl and two sisters - Thedosia and Claudia. In her early years, she worshipped at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Jackie graduated from South Shore High School in Chicago.

Jackie was joined in Holy Matrimony to her husband Samuel ( Sam); a union that was blessed with 3 beautiful daughters; Channing, Chantel and Chanel.

Jackie lived a purpose-driven life. She had a special place in her heart for children, a love that was manifested in the many young lives she touched and mentored to adulthood. Before she became ill, she worked and taught at Bright Horizons, a daycare that serves Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Jackie had selfless love for her relatives, extended family, friends and neighbors. She was devoted and committed to God, her husband and daughters.  Jackie was an active board member of the American Cancer Society until she fell ill and enjoyed the theater, dancing and singing. She was the assistant director and stage manager at Moorpark College and a member of the Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club. She faithfully attended Community Christian Church of Moorpark where she was a member and had a very strong relationship with the Lord. She led and served in the Hospitality ministry and was also a member of the Choir.

Jackie made a peaceful transition at home to glory on Sunday, July 9, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Jackie is survived by a loving husband (Sam) her three beautiful daughters that she adored. She also leaves to cherish her loving memories, sisters Thedosia and Claudia, brothers Julius, Roy, and Derryl, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Adieu Jackie, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race and won. Rest in the bosom of Our Lord.
